The temple was built in both Islamic and Gothic style of architecture by Lingarajendra in 1820. It is said Lingarajendra killed an honest and pious Brahmin to fulfill his political ambitions. That Brahmin became a Brahmarakshasa and started troubling the king. The king got rid of the so called Brahmarakshasa only when he brought a Shivalinga from Kashi and installed it after building a temple. The shivalinga was named as Omkareshwara and regular rituals were performed.

Raja's Seat is one of the major tourist attractions in Madikeri. As per the legends, the Raja's Garden is one-time-favorites of Kings of Kodagu who used to watch the setting sun and spend time with their queens here. The structure is a small square in brick and mortar of four pillars bridged by arches, enhanced by beautiful garden, greenery, mountains covered with mist. The setting sun is a splendor to watch. There is also an attraction of the toy train for children.

From Madikeri the water fall is accessible by a narrow road through the coffee and cardamom plantations. The roar of the falls can be heard from the road. The best time to visit is early winter when the monsoons have brought plenty of water. A hanging bridge constructed just opposite the falls comes in handy for the Tourists. There is a Kali Mata temple on the other side of the bridge.

The route from Madikeri is a great ride through coffee plantains. The view point is about 1600 meters above sea-level. Mandalpatti is famous for Trekking and you would get a beautiful view of the nearby green hills.

Talacauvery is located in the Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala at an altitude of 1276 meters .This is the birth place of river Cauvery and is considered as a spot of religious significance. Taking a dip in the holy water where the river emerges during Tula Sankramana is considered very sacred. There are steps which takes you to the Brahmagiri peak, which is 300ft high where you could get a distant view of Kudremukh, Chamundi Hills, Wynad and Nilgiris.

Tadiyandamol Peak being the tallest peak in Kodagu lies at an altitude of 5730 feet and is the second highest peak in Karnataka.Tadiyandamol is a Malayam word which means 'Tallest'.This peak is known for it scenic beauty and is known for trekking by tourists.

Flowing down from a height of 170 feet, the falls is situated amidst thick forest and offers great views of the nature, surrounded hills and several small streams flowing across. It is formed by Lakshmana Teertha, a stream which originated in Brahmagiri Peaks and joins the river Cauvery. Irupu waterfalls are situated in Brahmagiri Hills between Srimangala and Kutta in South Coorg.

The park is also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park and has a rich forest cover, small streams, hills, valleys and waterfalls. The park has many tigers, Indian bison and elephants and was declared the thirty seventh project tiger reserve in 1999.This is the most preserved wildlife sanctuary of Karnataka.

A beautiful Buddhist temple situated at Bylakuppe, a Tibetan settlement established in 1972 is at a distance of 5 kms from Kushalnagar. It is situated in Namdroling Monastery which is the second largest Tibetans settlement in India. The temple was built in Tibetan architecture which attracts a large number of tourists from India and abroad. Watching hundreds of Buddhist monks performing their daily religious rituals and offering prayers loudly is an exciting experience.

Dubare is known for its elephant camp, a forest camp on the banks of the river Kaveri in the district of Kodagu, Karnataka. This camp has plenty of elephants which are trained under naturalists. If you wish to, you could enjoy a boat ride across the Kaveri River to the elephant camp. The fun-filled activities at Dubare include Elephant Bathing, Elephant rides and River rafting.

This 19th century fort, in the centre of Madikeri, houses a ganesha temple, a chapel, district prison and a small museum. The fort offers a beautiful view of Madikeri. Initially this fort was built by mud and later on mud was replaced by the concrete stone, by the great king Tipu Sultan.

This temple being the most important for the people in Coorg, was built in 1810 by King Lingarajendra and is located in Kakkabe near Virajpet. There is an annual festival during the month of March where all the coorgs gather and make special offerings and prayers called the 'Tulabhara' weighing oneself against fruits, sugar, coconuts, rice etc on a weighing scale.

During the monsoon season the gates of the dam are opened and the water is released, this attracts a large number of tourists. The backwaters are spread across several acres with small islands in the middle and thick forest on the banks. There is a stone statue of Goddess Cauvery and also small garden near the dam.

Cauvery Nisargadhama, a famous picnic spot for families is an island formed by the river Cauvery. This 35acre man-made island built in 1988 is filled with thick bamboo groves, sandalwood and teak trees. The island is accessible through a hanging rope bridge. There are deer, rabbits, peacocks, children's playground and orchidarium. Machans (tree top shelters) and pargola (wall less shelters), pedal boating, elephant riding and a deer park are the major attractions here.

Mallalli Falls is a famous and beautiful waterfall in Kodagu with a height of 120 feet located in the foothills of Pushpagiri hills. This River flows down to Mangalore through Kukke Subrahmanya.
